Social Change UK are finalists in two categories at this year's Lincolnshire Digital Awards: Best website design and best digital marketing campaign for Quit for Them - a campaign to inspire parents and grandparents to give up smoking for good. The campaign, re-launched in October 2015, features ex-smokers and young people urging parents to quit for their children.
In addition to a website featuring stories and motivational messages from parents who used to smoke, smokers can download a voucher for free products and support from their local pharmacy or they can sign up to get a quit kit in the post. Smokers can also request a call from a specialist smoking cessation advisor who will aim to call the same day or next day.
Targeted Facebook adverts (in areas with high levels of smoking) are used to bring people through to the website. We have also utilised video to engage people and we have a YouTube channel set up that links to the website and Facebook community page.
An email campaign also runs as part of this campaign. Every person who signs up to quit will get motivational emails, tips and support delivered to their inbox on a weekly basis - increasing the communication and engagement we have with people looking to quit smoking.
A quitters toolbox on the website features downloads including podcasts and apps to help them on their journey. In just five months the campaign has resulted in over 1200 people requesting a quit kit, thousands of downloads and a reach of over 100,000 in North Wales.
Kelly Evans, Director at Social Change UK said: "We are delighted and very proud to be finalists in two categories for this digital campaign. As a team we have worked really hard to try and make quitting smoking easier and more appealing. It is not easy to generate interest in quitting smoking because so many people enjoy it and have been smoking for decades. We wanted to try different digital techniques and engage with smokers in real time in a motivating and inspirational way and we have done that with Quit for Them".
Over 90 applications were submitted from more than 25 companies in Lincolnshire. The results will be announced in Lincoln on the 28th April.
