From then to now
When we started, smartphones were just beginning to take off, Friday night was all about heading to Blockbuster to rent a few DVDs for the weekend and contactless payments were nowhere to be seen! A lot has changed since 2010, both in the world and within Social Change. Over the years, we’ve refined and developed our services, growing into a team that blends creativity, research and behavioural science to take on complex societal challenges.
We’ve delivered campaigns that sparked meaningful conversations, influenced behaviours and created positive ripple effects across communities. By understanding why people do what they do, we’ve helped shape better choices and worked alongside businesses, charities and communities to co-create solutions that stick. Every project has taught us something new and we’ve used those lessons to guide smarter decisions and amplify our impact.
Change and its impact
In our 15 years, we’ve been at the heart of some incredible societal shifts. The plastic bag charge of 2015 led to a 95% drop in single-use plastic bags, showing how a simple policy change can transform behaviour. Campaigns around mental health awareness have helped break stigmas and improve workplace support, while legal changes like the Equality Act 2010 have strengthened protections and rights.
Our work doesn’t just respond to change, it helps drive it. By combining behavioural science with creative solutions, we’ve supported organisations and communities to make better choices, from quitting smoking to reducing waste. These aren’t just numbers to us; they’re lives improved, and futures made brighter.
The next 15 years
The challenges we face over the next decade and beyond are big, but so are the opportunities to create meaningful change. The circular economy is set to reshape how we consume and reuse, with recycling rates needing to climb from 44% to 65% by 2035. Smoking rates are targeted to fall to below 5% by 2030, and we’re already supporting efforts to reduce vaping among young people. Fraud continues to rise, costing the UK £7 billion annually and tackling this requires smarter education and systems.
We’re already working on projects that aim to meet these targets, from encouraging recycling behaviours to helping businesses adopt more sustainable practices. Our efforts in reducing smoking and vaping include supporting people and vulnerable groups to make healthier choices. And as fraud evolves, we’re developing initiatives that help people to protect themselves while influencing organisations to strengthen prevention measures.
These issues are complex, but we’ve never turned away from a challenge.
Thank You
As we reflect on the last 15 years, we’re proud of the impact we’ve had and grateful for the incredible people, partners and communities who’ve been part of this journey. Some clients have stuck with us for years – with one or two being on this incredible journey with us for more than a decade and we thank you for putting your trust in us.
We know the work is far from done. But 15 years on, we are more experienced, determined and passionate than ever to help solve some of society’s toughest challenges.
Here’s to continuing to push boundaries, create solutions and make the world a fairer, kinder and more sustainable place for everyone.
Here’s to the next 15 years of Social Change!
