Social Change UK will be undertaking extensive research to obtain qualitative information around factors that influence target audiences in Derby. Local insight is required from individuals who work within key field areas to help commissioners make decisions about service design and interventions for harmful and hazardous drinkers in the city.

A number of behavioural objectives have been set for the programme and include:

  • A reduction in alcohol related A&E admissions by 5% by 2017 (c. £900,000 annual saving)
  • A reduction in alcohol related arrests
  • Increase the annual number of harmful/hazardous drinkers accessing support interventions to 3,000 per year by 2015
  • Increase awareness and utilisation of the Derbyshire Alcohol Diversion Scheme
  • Increase awareness of alcohol services – ADS, sensible drinking rewards website (www.sensibledrinkingrewards.org.uk) and parent/carer support services
